Terms of Service
What this catalogue promises, where a sale actually takes place, and what the heat and safety notes do and do not cover.
These terms cover vorringard.org, where using the site means reading its figures, measuring them against your own oven, and following its links. They are written for that use and no other.
What this site is
This is the VORRINGARD catalogue: enamelled cast iron bread ovens, loaf ovens, baguette trays and bare seasoned pots for a fire, with the capacity, the outside measurements and the weight of each one printed where you can read them. It is a reference rather than a checkout, so our retail partner takes the payment, ships the carton and handles any return, and the contract of sale is formed there and on their terms.
Hot iron, glazed surfaces and your health
Every pot here goes into a 480°F oven weighing between seven and seventeen pounds, and it comes out at the same temperature all over: lid knob, loop handles and rim. Dry mitts, both hands, a cleared landing spot, and the carton insert as the authority on everything else.
Enamel is glass fused to iron, and a glass surface belongs between the food and the metal only while it is whole. Federal food-safety guidance on glazed ware is plain on two points: ware that is chipped, cracked or heavily worn is the kind most likely to give something up into food, and no amount of washing or boiling takes anything back out of a glaze. So a chipped pot is retired rather than nursed along, acidic food comes out of the pot when the cooking is done rather than living in it overnight, and the documents behind those two sentences are linked in the safety section of our home page, with the date we read them. Nothing here is medical advice; a question about lead exposure belongs with a doctor.
Figures and prices
Capacities, outside measurements, weights and colour names come from our product data and are printed on the cards, so measure your oven shelf before you order: a 16-inch baguette baker that will not turn inside a 24-inch oven is a problem you find out about once.
Prices are the figures from our last update, and the date of that update is printed on our updates page and nowhere else. A price can move between updates. If the figure here and the figure at checkout disagree, the checkout is right, and only the checkout makes a price binding.
What we do not claim
We design and sell this range. We do not manufacture it, warehouse it, ship it or take your payment, and no sentence on this site should be read as saying otherwise. We publish no laboratory results of our own. Where a public authority is named, the document it published is linked with the date we read it.
Intellectual property
The text and layout of this site are ours. The photographs show VORRINGARD pots. Neither is offered for republication.
